Product DescriptionThe HL22 Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR)Sprinkler is intended for use against severe fire challenges.This sprinkler is designed to respond quicklyto growing fires with a high volume of water dischargeto “suppress” rather than “control” fires at lower pressuresand without in-rack sprinklers for 35’ (10.7m) to40’ (12.2m) storage as is required with a K14 or K17ESFR.The HL22 Sprinkler utilizes a levered fusible alloysolder link in either 165°F (74°C) or 212°F (100°C) temperatureratings. FM Global considers this a “QuickResponse” storage sprinkler for use in data sheet 8-9. The sprinkler has a Nominal K Factor of 22.4 (320metric) and will deliver approximately 112 gpm (424L/min) of water at 25 psi (1,7 bar).

The deflector and frame provide a broad, very symmetrical,hemispherical pattern capable of suppressingfires between sprinklers in high storage height areasand at the same time maintaining good central coredistribution to penetrate and suppress fires occurringdirectly beneath the sprinkler.Application and InstallationThe HL22 ESFR sprinkler is intended for installationin accordance with NFPA 13 and Factory Mutual (FM)Loss Prevention Data Sheets 2-0 and 8-9, as well as theAuthority Having Jurisdiction.This sprinkler is intended for protection of Class I toIV Commodities and Group A or B plastics, which includescartoned unexpanded plastics. The storagecan be palletized and solid piled, open frame singlerow or multiple row and portable rack storage.
